Carlos A. Mijares, is a Mexican Artist based in San Antonio, Texas.
He can be found painting live art weekends on Alamo Plaza and numerous art fairs. Carlos began his artistic en devours at the age of six, he began expressing himself with a crayon writing on the walls and as his age progressed, he has graduated to all other types of mediums on appropriate canvases; and sometimes still walls. He is currently attending the Southwest School of Art, pursuing his BFA. He is also fortunate enough to be able to sell his artwork which helps pay for his tuition.
Carlos has worked with many non-profit organizations like San Antonio College's (SAYIM) San Antonio Youth Immigrant Movement and UTSA's Humanic's Association. Donating his artwork which helps raise money for students in need who cannot qualify for scholarships.
Carlos was a protege and apprentice to New Orleans based Artist's Hugo Montero and Ricardo Ponce. In the course of a year, He was instructed by them and helped them out whenever they were in town. Over that period they proceeded to give art lessons, share techniques, give valuable advice, introduce him to other artist, and put him on the spot to paint in front of crowds. Carlos has had the privilege of having 3 different teachers. All of whom he is forever grateful to. Besides the two mentioned above, there is also a young gentleman and scholar named Sam Calvert whom he paints with frequently.
If you have bought a painting from me, or just given me a kind word; thank you for being part of this journey with me and for your support. This is only the beginning.
